Food is awful I guess! There are no good options if you are a vegetarian...
Don't bother. Better Thai food at better prices at south end of town. Pho was tiny bowl and quite insipid
I go here pretty often and the food is good, but I am always amazed at how sour and annoyed the owner/server always is. She makes me seriously consider not returning, but I like the food.
Extremely delicious rice and great vibes.
Great Thai cusine restaurant, bar and lounge that offers a tasteful selection of Thai Fare Favorites and other international dishes. The Singapore Noodle was awesome.
Great Thai food and service.
We arrived at 5:00 and didn’t leave till 6:40 because of how terrible the service on the waitress and cook/manager (I assume) because she came out and greeted a table that came in 35 minutes after we have ordered. That table go their meal right after we spent 40 minutes waiting for our starters. The seafood I received was over cooked and tasted like rubber. I ordered an alcoholic beverage that server proceed to forget to brink me even tho there were only 2 tables dining in at the time. I would not recommend. I would recommend Thai This I’m Radford tho, great food, great prices, and great customer service regardless of what you look like.
The food here is solid. It's flavorful and well prepared. I can't say it's totally authentic, which is disappointing - but in a small college town, it isn't a bad choice. The curries are a bit too soupy for my liking, but they have vastly improved on the taste. The tom yum is a bit too oily, but tastes great otherwise! I really enjoy it despite that one drawback. The basil rice wok is just delicious all across the board. My biggest complaint is the chicken - very dry and the taste/texture reflects that. Otherwise, I like ordering from here, and would love to eat in soon!
Definitely leave time if you're eating here- not for those in a hurry. Relaxed atmosphere. Many vegetarian options and food was OK this time and better last as far as flavoring. Restroom area needed some lights replaced & was dim. Server was nice and portion size was good. Mild spice level felt like no spice, so keep that in mind if you're usually one looking for a particular spice level.
The pad thai is delicious, and it is a good-sized portion. I usually get it for lunch, and the wait can be a little long, but that's because there is often only one person working and doing everything.
We go here on almost every visit to Blacksburg - my son is a graduate student at VT and this is his favorite place in town! They have great Thai dishes and can serve any of them to your taste.
Cafe de Bangkok is a Thai restaurant that's moving towards being an Asian Fusion restaurant. I've only been here three times in the last 7 years, but it's always been authentic and delicious.
I was disappointed with our take out dinner last night. We have eaten-in many times and have usually enjoyed the food. I ordered spring rolls and chicken satay but were not given any sauce for either. I ordered Bangkok Orangy Cashew with chicken (Medium heat), but the dish had no chicken and was processed as mild. My wife's Jade Curry had no bamboo shoots and instead had baby corn. We will be back, and if take out, I will check every dish before leaving. Might be advisable for any take out order.
Awesome counter service from Kai! Visiting from New York, ordered takeout, ready as soon as I showed up. Ruby Curry and Thai Wings, spicy and good!
We frequent this place. Great food and they're super nice.
Fantastic food and drinks. I will definitely be going back!
Truly loved the Pik Kapow!!! Staff was friendly and atmosphere was homey.
Great drinks, curry, pho and noodles!! Everyone enjoyed themselves and we will be back!
Not sure what I ate but it wasn't Thai fried rice. Even after adding the spicy chilli there was no flavor. It was prepared in less than 5 Minutes. Staff was great.
Food was delicious, waitress exceptional. Clean restaurant, lovely decor
remember few month ago the Pad Thai taste ok. But today go there for lunch discount on Pad thai $6, but taste horribly. Only have couple of bites, could not stand anymore. End up go back campus for food. Don't know if it change the chef. Next time just go Café Mekong for pad thai.
This place has exceptional food and the best Thai iced tea in town. Try the drunken noodles, and make sure to get them a little spicy!
It's great but don't order the pho
Had the perfect Pad Thai here.
This place is always awesome food
ordered four meals to go - 2 pad Thai chicken (good) and 2 shrimp fried rice (both burnt and smelled that way too)- ended up splitting the pad Thai chicken between four people since too far to go back
I got the basil rice wok with chicken, with the hot spiciness option. It was delicious! You get a pretty big sized portion and for about $10 for an entree it's not a bad deal either. We had a very friendly and attentive waitress who seemed a little inexperienced (probably new) but gave great service regardless. Would definitely go again.
Amazing food and the service is on point
Sometimes the service is slow, but some of the staff show a passion for the food and it shows. This place is my favorite place in Blacksburg right now. The entrees are cooked very consistently so we can guarantee a meal is done right. I enjoy the Orangey Bangkok Chicken which has pineapple and cashews and the Thai Tea. Make sure to check the specials.
My favorite place to get thai food in Blacksburg! Always good.
My friend and I was the first customer in the morning so it did not take much of time to get food. Taste was good as I love spicy food but it was not fulfilling (I ate around noon and I'm hungry at 3:00 pm).
Ordered food from here. Got rolls that were burnt and soaking in oil. An order of curry that had more than double it's portion of salt and I had to spit it out. Very bad experience. Never again from here.
Great food! A lot to choose from also. Nice quiet place downtown Blacksburg. Will definitely be going back many times! People working there were also great! Ok went back here and had to edit this review and just say it is even better than I first mentioned! Hands down some of the best food in the area! Can't say enough!
Save the trip and go to Mekong instead. Long wait time even when it's dead, extremely unfamiliar waiting staff, didn't even know what sodas they had on tap. Just save your money and time, go to Mekong.
Used to eat here frequently. Quit for some reason but after last visit remembered that we really like it. Food is great and beer special was a bargain.
Siamese fish was excellent!
Food and service were amazing!
The service was so amazing. Our waitress was so kind! The cafe is so cute and the food was delicious!
Amazing value and flavors on the lunch buffet, all you can eat for less than $10!The food and atmosphere is very authentic here as well!
Excellent taste and good price!
Exceptional! healthy, clean, very fresh. Our go to place for Thai food in Blacksburg!
The flavor of the food is great. The service is kind of slow, leave yourself plenty of time before you decide to dine in.
Excellent prices, excellent food - and great daily specials! Went here for the first time after moving to the area, and will certainly be back plenty of times to come for the drunken noodles!
Good Phò and nice atmosphere.
Great place for a quiet lunch/ dinner. Serene and peaceful ambience. I had the Jade Curry rice with Tofu and I found it amazing. Did feel it a little less spicy but then again I do have a high spice threshold. The one downside was that the food took a little ( just a little) long to come.
Great food, one of the most leisurely spots in downtown Blacksburg!
Good Thai food. Several beers on tap (plus bottles). Friendly staff. Can't wait to go again.
The place is kinda hidden, even though it's right off Main street. The food is very delicious and fresh. Lots of option for gluten free and vegan is a plus. The service is great, the staff is very nice and friendly. Totally recommended!
Been here for lunch many times. The lunch buffet is great! The selection varies each day, but there is normally a good selection. There are even plenty of items for vegetarians.Price is reasonable for the amount you can have. This restaurant is somewhat secluded in a back street and there is some on street parking available.
Pretty good food here. It's a great place if you want to try some interesting Thai food. There is a lot on the menu that I've never heard of before. Very clean table and condiments. Price vs. portion could use a little work, but then again, this is a college town. Also, there seemed to be one fairly new waiter taking care of everyone. Very nice service though.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but their continuous decline is undeniable. Sadly, the food is now mediocre on most visits. The service on my most recent visit was also painful. The server was very inattentive and seemed annoyed when concerns were raised about the food. I'd encourage you to consider other options (there is another good Thai joint in town). The second star is for when they used to be good. Here's hoping they can one day get back to their former glory.
